Intel, a worldwide chip leader, has named Naga Chandrasekaran, of Indian descent, as the new chief global operations officer, taking over from Keyvan Esfarjani, a long-time company veteran who has retired after three decades.

 

“As we continue to build a globally resilient semiconductor supply chain and create the world’s first systems foundry for the AI era, Naga’s leadership will help us to accelerate our progress and capitalize on the significant long-term growth opportunities ahead,” Intel’s chief executive officer Pat Gelsinger said on his appointment.

 

Chandrasekaran, who holds a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Madras, is leaving his position as the senior vice president of technology development at Micron to join Intel. The executive, born in India, will start at Intel on August 12 and will also hold the role of executive vice president and general manager of the Intel Foundry Manufacturing and Supply Chain.

 

Additionally, Chandrasekaran will oversee Intel Foundry's global manufacturing operations, such as Fab Sort manufacturing, assembly test manufacturing, strategic planning, quality assurance, and supply chain.

 

Intel, a prominent company known for designing and producing semiconductor chips, operates in various countries including the US, Canada, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Germany, and India, among others.
