The exchange of technology to improve the drinking water quality and a memorandum of understanding (MOU) is signed between the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) of India and South Australia.
This noble initiative happened through the Australia India Water Centre (AWIC), which has expertise in improving water management. At a recent ceremony for spreading awareness about quality drinking water, PHED minister Kanhaiyalal Chaudhary highlighted the ‘Har Ghar Jal' scheme executed through the Jal Jeevan mission brought by the central government to provide quality water to every rural household for the long term.
During the event, a workshop was organized under the Australia India Water Centre (AWIC), and the workshop focused on RO wastewater management to improve the water treatment systems, fostering inter-departmental advancement in surface water, agriculture, groundwater, and infrastructure. The workshop indicates a practical solution for water management by recycling contaminated water and integrating JJM for long-term water sources and groundwater recharge through research and development using a scientific, systematic process.
The workshop's motivation is to provide technical assistance, and with these innovative strategies, we will be able to identify rift zones from the groundwater department. These initiatives will create innovative methodologies to handle water management in the future.
